Developing a protocol for a Cochrane systematic review
Where: Christian Medical College, Vellore, India
When: 4-8 February

A workshop for people who have a systematic review title registered with a Cochrane Review Group or are working on a registered protocol. During the workshop, participants will be helped to develop and write a draft protocol for their review and learn to use RevMan 5 and Grade Pro software.

Developing a Systematic Review
Where: National Center for Child Health and Development, Tokyo, Japan
When: 7-8 February

A course in the Japanese language to guide participants through the steps of developing a Cochrane review. It will cover risk of bias, statistics and GRADE assessment. It is limited to those who have a registered Cochrane review title.

Introduction to writing a Cochrane systematic review
Where: University of Newcastle, Callaghan, New South Wales, Australia
When: 12-13 February

This two-day workshop is suitable for authors who are either new to systematic reviews or need a refresher on the processes and methods of doing a Cochrane review. A mixture of presentations and hands-on sessions will give you an overview of the methods required to write your protocol and get started on the review. Participants must have a title registered with a Cochrane Review Group.

Critical evaluation of medical studies
Where: Austrian Cochrane Branch, Danube University, Krems, Austria
When: 5-6 March

This workshop will explore the theory and methods of critically evaluating studies, and will provide participants with some practical experience.

Introduction to writing a Cochrane systematic review
Where: Australasian Cochrane Centre, Melbourne, Australia
When: 13-15 March

This three-day workshop is designed for new authors starting a Cochrane systematic review. A mixture of presentations and hands-on sessions will give you an overview of all the methods required to write your protocol and get started on the review. Participants must have a registered Cochrane review title or be in the process of registering.

Indirect and mixed treatment comparisons
Where: York, UK
When: 18 March

This new training course provides an introduction to indirect and mixed treatment comparisons for project managers, research commissioners and others new to these techniques, who are seeking a better understanding of how to plan, commission and assess such comparisons. The trainers are experienced statisticians, modellers and researchers, who have conducted a range of indirect and mixed treatment comparisons to inform reimbursement decisions and global economic models.

Systematic reviews for policy and practice
Where: Institute of Education, London, UK
When: 19 March – 17 April (one month course)

Systematic Reviews for Policy and Practice will enable you to conduct and appraise systematic reviews. On successful completion, you will be familiar with the strengths and limitations of systematic reviews and have a critical appreciation of evidence-informed policy and practice. The course is aimed at experienced policy-makers, practitioners, managers and researchers.

Systematic reviews in health: an introductory training day
Where: Chilworth Manor Hotel, Chilworth, Southampton, UK
When: 19 March

This training day provides an introductory overview of all aspects of systematic reviewing in health. It is designed for health professionals, academics and decision makers with an understanding of health and related research. Places are limited. Presented by the Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC) at the University of Southampton.

Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) International Training Week
Where: Kellogg College, Oxford, UK
When: 28-30 March
A three-day Introduction to Evidence-Based Health Care (This will cover study designs and critical appraisal of different types of studies e.g. RCTs, systematic reviews, qualitative studies and making sense of results). This will be followed by two-day Training the Trainer workshops (the broad aim of the training the trainer (TtT) days are to help participants develop the competence and confidence to teach critical appraisal skills and run a CASP-style workshop.)
