5-9 September – Systematic reviews and analysis of health research (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK)
A five day course which promises to give participants a grounding in how to conduct all aspects of systmatic reviews and meta-analysis, with a chance to gain practical experience. The course is now full but applications are still being accepted for a waiting list in case of cancellations.
6-9 September – Evidence Synthesis of Qualitative Research in Europe (ESQUIRE) Short Course – The Edge Conference Centre, Sheffield, UK
The course looks at the systematic review process as it applies and is adapted to qualitative evidence synthesis. Participants will gain practical experience of the process. The course will finish with a one-day event looking at Issue and Challenges for Qualitative Research in Evidence Synthesis.
20-21 September – Grade and Summary of Findings Workshop – MRC Conference Centre, MRC, Tygerberg, Cape Town, South Africa
A two day course which will give participants an understanding of the Grade approach to rating the quality of evidence and strength of recommendations. The workshop will also cover how to generate a summary of findings table using GradePro. It is open to any contributors from the South African Cochrane Centre reference countries (Benin, Botswana, Cameroun, Comoros, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe).
29 -30 September – Workshop for Authors of Cochrane Reviews of Diagnostic Test Accuracy, Amsterdam Medical Center, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
A workshop to prepare authors to conduct a Diagnostic Test Accuracy Review, led by the Cochrane Diagnostic Test Accuracy team
29 September – 1 October – Systematic Reviews in Medicine, German Cochrane Centre, Freiburg, Germany
A basic course on systematic reviews, at an introductory level. There will be hands-on sessions on searching the Cochrane Library and MEDLINE, and how to use Review Manager. Participants will also learn about the background to systematic reviews, their place in evidence-based medicine and will work in groups to evaluate studies and reviews.
