Update of Cochrane policy manual on co-publication

The Cochrane Collaboration has updated the policy manual on the co-publicaton of Cochrane Reviews.

This clarifies some issues with regard to the publication of Cochrane reviews, abstracts and plain language summaries. A Cochrane review is considered to be submitted for publication once the decision has been made to publish the protocol. After this, authors must seek permission from the Co-Ordinating Editor of their review group (in our case Professors Helen Worthington and Jan Clarkson) and the Editor in Chief of the Cochrane Library (David Tovey) if they wish to send their review to another journal. A number of scenarios are also detailed in the manual, including prior publication, co-publishing review updates and converting non-Cochrane systematic reviews to Cochrane Reviews.
